Acupuncture

When it comes to the body, there is no truer statement than “everything is connected.” Specifically, our bodies are connected via connective tissue known as fascia. Fascia wraps around organs, bones and muscles and is what gives are bodies shape. The fascia network is a messenger system like the nervous system; in fact, the nervous system, blood vessel and lymph all travel through fascia.

Acupuncture interacts with the fascial network to convey messages to the brain that alter brain chemistry. Depending on what is needed acupuncture might increase the release of the body’s natural opiates to ease pain or increase ACTH for inflammation. It can regulate hormones and alter gene expression. Acupuncture also stimulates local circulation and can help release fascia that is tight or knotted such as scar tissue.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine, sterile, disposable needles into specific points on the body known as acupuncture “points.” These points act as gates into the body’s Qi (“chee”) and restore it’s smooth flow.

“Qi,” may sound mysterious but it is simply the name given to all the building blocks that make you who you are. If you have any symptom such as insomnia, headache, painful periods, infertility or physical pain, it means that your “Qi,” is not moving smoothly. Acupuncture points provide gateways into the flow of qi and help us correct these imbalances.

Depending on what ails you, we insert one of these acupuncture needles at a specific acupuncture point. You usually won’t even feel it, although some people notice a little pressure or tingling. Immediately, your body sends energy and blood circulation to that point. When we insert a second needle (at a different point), the Qi flows to that point. Already, energy is moving between these two points and we have begun the process of rebalancing and healing.

Over time, with a few treatments, the Qi is able to flow freely on its own, and your health — all aspects of your health — will improve exponentially. Digestion, sexual health, fertility, headaches, you name it. We just tap into the flow of Qi and make sure that there is nothing blocking its path.
